Before you connect your heater to the app, please make sure you are using the latest app version, if you are using an iPhone then open Appstore and download the latest version of the Mill Norway app.
If you are an Android user, please open Play store and download the latest Mill Norway app.
Prerequisite before trying to connect your heater:
- Turn the heater off
- Then press and hold the settings button while you turn the heater on again.
- This will start a reset and heater will stop on 22c or OF if you have that problem.
- If the Wi-Fi led is still blinking or showing any light, then press and hold the Wi-Fi button for 6-7 seconds and release. This should turn the light off and reset the Wi-Fi.
- Turn off any VPN on your phone or router if you have an active VPN the heater will not connect.
- Turn off any firewalls that might block the heater from reaching our servers.
- Make sure you have separate 2.4ghz Wi-Fi, networks that broadcast 2.4ghz and 5ghz on the same network name (SSID) will not work.
- If possible, please make sure your Wi-Fi mode is set to 802.11 G or G/N
- This is particularly important for gen1 devices.
- If you have a TP-Link, then you should be ablet to change to G/N
- If you have an Asus router, then you should also be able to change to G or G/N
- Its also recommended to enable “legacy support.”
- These settings can be found under Wi-Fi settings.
Once you have done the changes then you should be ready to connect your heater, just follow the instructions in the app and make sure you select the correct product and generation. Before connecting, please make sure you are connected to the 2.4ghz network, otherwise this will not work.
If you are not familiar with routers, then you can call your internet service provider and they can assist you with this. Mill support can also assist, but then you would need to provide us with your router mode and name and if possible, some pictures of your Wi-Fi settings.
If you have newer router that does not allow you to split your network to a separate 2.4ghz and have not options to change these settings, then you can try these tricks:
- If you are ablet to just have a separate 2.4ghz then try connecting the heater using that network. If that does not work, then continue reading.
Note: All these changes can be changed back once he heaters are connected
Option 1: (you need a spare Android phone)
Find a spare Android phone and set up a mobile hotspot(2.4ghz), give the mobile hotspot the exact same name as your main Wi-Fi network name (100% same). And use the exact same password, both must be 100% same. Then take your main mobile phone and make sure it connected to the hotspot you just created. Then turn your main Wi-Fi off, you can unplug the router/nodes.
Then try connecting the heater and follow the app instructions, if you can connect, then go true the connection process and name the heater and attach it to a room. In some cases, it might ask you to update the heater to new firmware. Just follow the process, once finished and heater appears in the app turn then heater off.
Then take your other device/heater and get that connected as well, make sure to turn it off when its connected and appears in the app.
Once all the heaters are connected you can turn the hotspot off on the spare Android phone and turn your main Wi-Fi on again. Please wait 4-5 minutes since routers can take some time to come fully online.
Now you can turn all your heaters on, they will automatically connect and become online in the app.
Option 2: (I don’t have a spare Android phone)
If you have a mesh router and no spare phone to use, then try this. This also applies to users who don’t have mesh router and can’t make the required changes to settings.
First turn off all extra mesh boxes except the main router, if you only have 1 router (not mesh) then you can skip this part. Then take the socket/heater as far away from the router as possible, hopefully the signal from the router will be weaker.
When the signal is weaker the router will automatically send 2.4ghz signal to your phone, then try connecting your device. Once the device is connected you can unplug it and then move to the desired location. Do the same with your other gen 1 / 2 devices, move them far away from the router and get them connect. Once connected you can move them to the desired location.
Still can’t connect?
